Proposition 1 will allow surviving spouses of 100% disabled veterans an exemption from ad valorem taxation on their home.  In 2009, the legislature passed a law that exempted 100% disabled veterans from ad valorem taxation, but if they passed away, their spouses would have to begin paying again.  This constitutional amendment continues that exemption in the event of the veteran passing away.
